A modern train for secondary railways
In May 1875, for the opening of its first section, the Emmental Railway ordered a train, which at that time was considered to be modern for a secondary railway. The elegant locomotive had been manufactured at the SLM Winterthur, which was founded in 1871. The 3rd class coach was an intercommunicating compartment coach with open entrance vestibules.
The mail and luggage van was equipped with a toilet, which was considered an innovation at that time.
