Alfa and Enzo: two winner types
Under the direction of Enzo Ferrari, the factory team of the Alfa Romeo use the 8C model in numerous sports car races. An 8C wins the Targa Florio and Le Mans in 1931, and the Mille Miglia in 1932. Enzo Ferrari himself wins the mountain race from Bobbio to the Passo del Penice in the Alfa Romeo that is displayed here, and thereby ends his career as an active racing driver.

The power lies in the middle
Vittorio Jano designed the engine of the 8C with a number of special features: 8 cylinders are distributed over 2 blocks of 4 cylinders, and the drive of the twin overhead camshafts is in-between them. Both the engine block and the crankcase and cylinder head are made from aluminium.

Alfa und Enzo: zwei Siegertypen
Unter der Leitung von Enzo Ferrari setzt das Werksteam von Alfa Romeo den Typ 8C bei zahlreichen Sportwagenrennen ein. Ein 8C gewinnt 1931 die Targa Florio und Le Mans, 1932 die Mille Miglia. Enzo Ferrari persönlich gewinnt auf dem hier ausgestellten Alfa Romeo das Bergrennen von Bobbio auf den Passo del Penice und beendet damit seine Karriere als aktiver Rennfahrer.

Die Kraft liegt in der Mitte
Vittorio Jano konstruiert den Motor des 8C mit einigen Besonderheiten: 8 Zylinder verteilen sich auf 2 Blöcke von je 4 Zylindern, der Antrieb der beiden oben liegenden Nockenwellen erfolgt dazwischen. Sowohl der Motorblock wie auch Kurbelgehäuse und Zylinderkopf sind aus Aluminium.

Enzo Ferrari en personne gagne sur l’Alfa Romeo exposée ici la course de montagne de Bobbio sur le Passo del Penice, terminant ainsi sa carrière de coureur automobile actif.

Vittorio Jano construit le moteur de la 8C avec quelques particularités : 8 cylindres sont répartis sur 2 blocs de 4 cylindres chacun, la propulsion des deux arbres à came situés au-dessus ayant lieu entre les deux. Aussi bien le bloc-moteur que le carter de vilebrequin et la culasse sont en aluminium.

La forza sta nel mezzo
Vittorio Jano costruisce il motore della 8C con alcune particolarità: 8 cilindri distribuiti su 2 blocchi da 4 cilindri ciascuno, e nel mezzo trova posto la presa di moto dei due alberi a camme sovrapposti. Sia il blocco motore, sia il basamento e la testa dei cilindri sono realizzati in alluminio.
