Ferrari 365 GTB/4 „Daytona“
Italy 1972
The last, classical Gran Turismo
The Daytona is a Gran Turismo (GT), a comfortable, well motorised sports car, also suitable for long journeys. Ferrari, however, never calls this last GT "Daytona". This new model from Maranello received its name from the press when it was introduced in 1968. The reason for this was a threefold win at the 24-hour race in Daytona in 1967.
Timeless Beauty
As in the case of most Ferrari models, the design of the bodywork of the Daytona originates from Pininfarina. The headlamps are retractable; from 1971 onwards, the previously used plexiglass covering of headlamps was forbidden by US legislation.
Front-engine drive to suit the taste of Enzos Ferrari
Enzo Ferrari was not smitten by centrally mounted engines; he always said that horses were also bridled from the front. Nevertheless, it is clear that the front engine was only a transitional design, which was replaced by the centrally mounted engine of its successor, the 512 BB (for those of you who are experts).
