Three-winged exit signal Stein-Säckingen
The semaphore is the classical railway signal. In Switzerland, it was introduced in 1880 only in the border stations to Germany. Like a protecting arm, its wing commands to stop when it is horizontal or gives way when it looks upwards. An additional arm tells the driver on which track he will pursue his journey. The three-winged semaphore is a special case for three possible additional directions.
Safety: The semaphores as the most important visual signals.
