Debris from the wreckage of the Zeppelin LZ 129 “Hindenburg”
The “Hindenburg” went up in flames on its landing at Lakehurst near New York on 6 May 1937 with 97 passengers on board. 36 people lost their lives. This tragic event meant the end of the era of airships filled with combustible hydrogen.
