On the way to becoming a means of transport
Commercial aircraft come into being
Former military aircraft from the First World War were not suitable for the transport of passengers. True commercial aircraft rapidly appeared on the scene, such as the Junkers F-13 (the first all-metal passenger aircraft), the Fokker F-II, F-III and F-VII as well as the Dornier “Merkur”. With their enclosed passenger cabins, they offered modest comfort although the pilots were still exposed to the airflow.
