Pioneers pave the way
War in the air I
With the outbreak of the First World War, military aviation began to be taken seriously in Switzerland as well. Alongside a few purchased and confiscated foreign aircraft, such as the LVG III or Nieuport 23 C-1, there were locally built designs based on foreign models such the Heafeli DH-1, DH-3 and Wild TW. These were still in use many years after the end of the war for training, reconnaissance and observation.
