The jet revolution
The new dimension in travel
Journey times were cut in half thanks to jet engines. Crews and logistics could be reduced. At altitudes of around 10’000 metres, aircraft travelled above the weather – this previously unheard of travel comfort and great punctuality. This made the aircraft a serious competitor for the shipping lines that had dominated intercontinental travel up to this time.
