Wells Fargo horse-drawn stagecoach, USA 1870
Stagecoach in the Wild West
The stagecoach, mostly with simple suspension, represented the first regular transport service to the western regions of the USA. When after 1870 the railways took over the main traffic routes, this form of coach (model type around 1860) served as a supplement to the railway network. The American post-coach service was run by private organizations such as Wells Fargo & Co.
