Description

Patentmodell (originales Modell) des Konstrukteurs und Werkstattchefs in Airolo beim Gotthardtunnelbau, Gustave Seguin, zur Verbesserung der Tunnelbohrmaschinen am Gotthard, 1878. Typ mit automatischem Vortrieb; mittels einer Stahlfeder (anstatt mit komprimierte Luft) wird Anpressdruck erzeugt. Dadurch effiziente Ausnützung der komprimierten Luft an Tunnelbrust (aufwendige Zufuhr über kilometerlange Leitungen).

Patent model, Scale1:10, Seguin percussion drilling machine, 1878 In the early stages, Gustave Seguin, head of the workshop in Airolo, tested all the machines available on the market. He developed a model with automatic advance. Pressure was supplied using a steel spring instead of compressed air. It permitted more efficient use of the short supply of compressed air, fed along pipelines several kilometres long to the tunnel face, to be used efficiently. A type similar to the patent model was used during the building of the Mount Ceneri Tunnel.
