Ascent of the balloon ‘Sirius’ at Kandersteg station

Coloured glass slide of the ascent of the balloon ‘Sirius’ at Kandersteg station on 3 August 1913. Balloon pioneer Eduard Spelterini launched from the meadow in front of the Hotel Victoria Ritter for his 6 ½-hour flight over the Alps to Alagna in the Val Sesia (Italy). The balloon is already around 2 metres above the ground. A large number of people watched the spectacle.
