The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus sets new standards with the A380. The largest passenger aircraft in the world is for the time being designed for 555 passengers, while a stretched version is intended to accommodate as many as 963. Using the latest technologies, RUAG developed many parts of the super-jumbo which are manufactured and assembled in Emmen.
The largest component group consists of the left and right outer fixed trailing edges. In the autumn of 2005 RUAG received the SQIP Award from Airbus for the best performance by a supplier. Two years earlier RUAG had already been honoured by Boeing as “Supplier of the Year“.
