Rettungshelikopter Agusta A 109 K2, Golf, der Rega, Immatrikulation HB-XWG - Seriennummer 10007 - 2 Arriel 1K1-Turbinen (2 x 771 PS) - Insassen: 1 Pilot, 1 Rettungssanitäter, 1 Arzt, 1 Patient (liegend), 1 Begleitperson - Dienstgipfelhöhe: zirka 4500 m - gebaut in Italien, am 4. Juni 1993 in die Schweiz überflogen und während eines halben Jahres auf Rega-Standard umgebaut - Rettungswinde für 2 Personen mit 50 m Seillänge - diente zuerst als Versuchsträger (HUMS – System für die Überwachung der Betriebsparameter des Helikopters), anschliessend eingesetzt als Ersatzhelikopter (Springer), ab Sommer 2008: Stationierung auf der Rega-Basis Samedan - Ausserbetriebnahme: Januar 2010

Agusta A 109 K2, Italy 1993 Twin-engine rescue helicopter From 1991–1995, Rega commenced operations with 15 Agusta A 109 K2 helicopters. They replaced the 12 Alouette III SA 319 B and three Bölkow Bo 105 CBS helicopters. This meant that Rega’s helicopter fleet now comprised a single type. The helicopter with serial number 10007 and registration number HB-XWG went into service on 2 June 1993 and was deployed to help people in distress until January 2010. The “Golf” was stationed at Rega’s Engadine base ni Samedan. The Agusta was equipped with two powerful engines, which made it possible to also perform missions in high mountain regions. Moreover, in an emergency, the helicopter could continue flying with only one engine running – a significant step forward compared to the single-engine Alouette III. Part of the Agusta A 109 K2 helicopter fleet was replaced in 2003, when Rega’s lowland bases in Lausanne, Bern, Basel and Zurich were equipped with Airbus Helicopters EC 145 helicopters. From 2009, 11 AgustaWestland Da Vinci helicopters succeeded the A 109 K2 as Rega’s mountain helicopter type. Original section of a heliport, Switzerland 2018 For landing on a hospital roof Some 280 of Switzerland’s hospitals have helipads (as of 2016), many of which are heliports located on the roofs of hospital buildings. Rega’s Agusta A 109 K2 helicopter is standing here on the original section of a heliport manufactured by Europoles Suisse. The full-size structure would be some eight times the size. It consists of aluminium profiles. The steel substructure can be float-mounted to keep the hospital building largely vibrationfree. The slightly raised red-and-white upstand prevents the helicopter from rolling over the heliport edge. Since a vertical railing would hinder take-offs and landings, fall-protection is provided by a horizontal, two-metre wide safety net mounted all the way round (the one on display is only 50 cm wide due to lack of space). The green illumination integrated into the surface indicates the edges of the landing area. Yellow-coloured floodlights serve to illuminate the heliport.
