Station clock from Hilfiker from 1947
The Swiss Federal Railways engineer Hans Hilfiker 1901-1993 designed platform shelters, clocks and other buildings and facilities. The most famous of his inventions is no doubt his modern station clock, which is still used nowadays. Hilfiker limited the dial to simple line marks. He added a red hand for the seconds. This hand needs 58 seconds and a half for one revolution, which allows it to stop shortly at the end of every full minute. Every minute, the clock is adjusted to the exact time using an electric impulse.
