Crossair Transition to “Swiss International Air Lines” 2000-2002 On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Crossair is given a new corporate image. In January 2001 Moritz Suter takes over the airline operations of the Swissair Group for a short time. André Dosé becomes CEO of Crossair. The terrorist attacks and the grounding of Swissair in the autumn of 2001 have negative effects on Crossair as well. In addition, 24 of the 33 passengers aboard an Avro RJ100 “Jumbolino“ die in a crash near Bassersdorf on 24th November 2001. However, as opposed to Swissair, Crossair manages to overcome any crisis. The company name is changed and the new “Swiss International Air Lines“ is created.
