Structural component from the Zeppelin NT
All the major components in the Zeppelin NT such as the steering fins, the engines and the cabin are fixed in place inside the structure, guaranteeing maximum safety in the air. The helium-tight envelope is only attached to the longitudinal girders. The Zeppelin NT will retain full manoeuvrability even in the event of a significant loss of pressure. The external shape of the Zeppelin NT is determined by the internal pressure being exerted on the envelope, leading it to be classified as a semi-rigid airship. The longitudinal girders are also designed as trusses but are made completely from aviation-quality aluminium.
