Brown Boveri and Company BBC
The Brown, Boveri company was founded in Baden in 1891. Already during World War I, it developed its own single-axle transmission. This transmission, named after its designer Buchli, became a great success. The Swiss Federal Railways were the first railway company to order locomotives with Buchli transmission in large quantities. These locomotives could be seen in eleven countries, among them France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, India and Brazil.
